I have been a professional Hampshire wedding videographer since 2015. Every wedding I film gets cut differently, because no two days run the same way.
Wedding videography is unique. It captures every movement, every smile and every tear that is shed on your big day. A wedding film is a living record of the most beautiful day of your life. It captures the happy, as well as the sad and even the funny moments throughout the day. It allows you to capture the subtleties that a mere photograph cannot. A drone video captures a bird’s eye view from above. The footage from each camera is blended together to produce a stunning wedding film.
Hampshire and Its Many Faces
I live in Grayshott, right on the county boundary, so most of Hampshire is under an hour from my front door. Winchester, Petersfield, Southampton, Portsmouth and the New Forest are all regular ground. That matters less for the scenery than for the practical bit. I have usually seen the building before and I know what the light does in the rooms I film in most. Portsmouth gives you water in the background, which is rarer than it sounds around here.
England is a country with many geographical elements. Hampshire offers many of them. From rolling hills to winding rivers, the natural beauty makes it popular for couples who want an outdoor wedding. As a professional Hampshire wedding videographer, I can use my drone and video camera to capture every second of your big day so that you can remember every detail.
Five things a Hampshire wedding film catches
- The speeches: The Tithe Barn has its own sound system, which makes my life easy. Plenty of barns do not, so every speech gets its own microphone wherever you are.
- The water: The Solent, the Hamble and Portsmouth Harbour turn up in a lot of Hampshire weddings. A photograph shows the view. Film shows it moving.
- The weather: This is Hampshire, so I plan for rain whatever the forecast says. I will ask about your wet weather plan before the day rather than on it.
- The bits you missed: You will miss most of your own wedding. Nothing has gone wrong, you are just busy being in it. The film is where you find out what your guests were up to.
- The drive: Most Hampshire venues are under an hour from my front door in Grayshott, so your ceremony start time is not something I gamble on with the M3.
Why film a Hampshire wedding at all
A photograph holds one moment still. A film holds the sound of it too: the vows, the pause before the best man gets his laugh, the noise the room made when you walked in. That is the part couples tell me they had forgotten, because on the day itself you are far too busy living it to take much in.
Hampshire is where I am based and where most of my work sits. I run Burton Media from Grayshott, right on the county boundary, so venues like The Tithe Barn, Norton Park and Sandford Springs are a short drive from my front door. I am not arriving having never seen the building and I already know how the light behaves in the rooms I film in most.

Get to Know Paul, Your Hampshire Based Wedding Videographer!
I came to film from stills, after years of photographing weddings. That is still the most useful training I had, because it teaches you where to stand and when to stop moving. Packages start at £1,547 and every one covers the full day rather than a set number of hours, so nobody is watching a clock while your speeches overrun.
A wedding day is a great deal more than the ceremony. It is the hour beforehand while nobody can find the buttonholes, the speeches, the first dance and the point late on when somebody’s uncle discovers the dance floor. I film all of it and cut it in the order it happened, because that is the order you remember it in.
Wedding Videography Services
Through the ceremony and the speeches I run up to five cameras, because those are the parts of the day with only one take in them. Every speech gets its own microphone so you can hear the jokes back rather than guess at them. A teaser film reaches you within seven days, usually sooner.
Films are edited chronologically and colour graded so they still look right in twenty years rather than dated by whatever happens to be fashionable now. Everything is delivered digitally. Frequently Asked Questions
Are you limited by location?
Grayshott, where I live, sits right on the Hampshire border, so the New Forest is about as far as Hampshire gets from me. I will travel further for the right day. Kent and Essex have both had me, but Hampshire is home ground.
Do you have a limit on hours?
No. I arrive about two hours before the ceremony, usually earlier because I hate being late. I stay until a couple of songs past the first dance. If the party is still going and you want me there, tell me on the night and I will stay.
What parts of the day do you record?
Whatever you want kept. Usually that means getting ready, the ceremony, the speeches and the first dance, plus the bits in between that nobody planned.
How long will it take to get my films?
Your teaser arrives within seven days, often the next day if I am not filming again. The full films can take up to ninety days in the summer, because I will not rush them. Right now they are going out in about four weeks. If there is a date you need them by, tell me early and I will work to it.
Do you coordinate with the wedding photographer?
Yes. I stay out of their line and they stay out of mine, which gets easy with practice. If you would rather have photographs and film from one booking, that is what the photo and film package is for.

These are the Hampshire venues I know properly. Each has its own page with capacities, what the light does and what I would plan around.
The Tithe Barn above Petersfield has the South Downs running away behind it and a built-in sound system that makes speeches record cleanly. Bethany and Daniel were married there.
Norton Park near Sutton Scotney gives you a 17th century barn and a manor house in one place and it scales to 300 in the evening.
Sandford Springs near Tadley is a golf course as much as a venue, so you get open views and long sightlines that hotel venues cannot offer.
Elmers Court at Lymington is where I filmed Erin and James.
The Royal Southern Yacht Club sits on the bank of the river Hamble, on a cobbled street, with the water right there.
The Spinnaker Tower puts you high above Portsmouth Harbour with glass on every side. Beautiful and the hardest light I work in.
Cain Manor is just over the Surrey border near Bordon and it is the closest venue to home for me.
Elmers Court in Lymington, now trading as THE NICI New Forest, sits in 23 acres above the Solent. Outdoor ceremonies on the Queen Mary Lawn and a view across to the Isle of Wight. Erin and James were married there.
New Place Hotel at Shirrell Heath gives you four genuinely different spaces in 32 acres, from the Jacobean panelling of the Bristol Room to the Arden Suite out in the woodland. Shannon and Ash were married there.

Chilworth Manor at Southampton is a country house hotel with ninety five bedrooms, four licensed suites and two hundred in the evening, so the whole day happens in one place. Rachel and Thomas were married there.
Rivervale Barn at Yateley is exclusive use, a hundred and fifty seated and two hundred in the evening, with an outdoor ceremony space in the trees. Alicia and Josh were married there.
Southsea Castle is a Tudor fort on the Solent, with the ramparts ninety seconds from the marquee. Abi and Dan were married there.
The Alverbank at Gosport does outdoor ceremonies on the lawn with the Isle of Wight behind them. Katie and Iain were married there.
The Square Tower at Old Portsmouth was built in 1494 and sits on the harbour wall. Paige and Lee were married there.
