Filming at Cain Manor

Cain Manor is close to home for me, which is part of why I like filming here so much. I have driven past that entrance more times than I can count and it still lifts something in me when I turn up with the cameras in the boot.

The approach matters more than most couples expect. You come up a long winding drive to a house sitting on a hilltop with countryside falling away on every side. It gives me somewhere to film you walking that does not look like every other venue driveway in Hampshire.

Inside there are several reception rooms, 123 for the ceremony and up to 170 in the evening, with a bridal suite and ten further rooms on site. Exclusive use runs for a full 24 hours. That is the detail I would flag if you are still choosing between venues, because it means nobody is rushing your morning.

A Little Less Known History

As a local who knew the original owners of Cain Farm, Cain Manor was a 16th century Tudor home with a large oak framed barn on the estate that had become dilapidated. Mr Edward Fox started to reinstate the house using traditional methods of building construction to form a new family home for his wife and three children. Sadly they never moved into Cain Manor as Ed’s wife passed away in the mid 1980’s.

Ed and his children remained in the existing family bungalow on the estate. When Ed passed away in 2002, the farm was separated and sold as a farm and Cain Manor. Applications and alterations where made to the manor to make it fit to hold weddings in 2005 and then in 2011 they also sought a wedding ceremony licence which was granted. The Manor is no owned and run by the hotel chain, Harpers Wedding Group.
