Summary

Goodwood is a proper stately home and its scale is the first thing I have to think about. 180 for the ceremony, up to 225 in the evening, in rooms that were built to hold a great deal more than that. It is very easy to come away with a film that is all architecture and no people. I work hard not to do that.

The Ballroom is the room everybody comes for and it earns the attention. High ceilings, art on the walls and light that changes completely depending on the hour. If your ceremony is in there, tell me when, because the room at two o clock and the room at five are not the same room.

The estate around the house gives me options that most venues simply cannot. Downland, parkland and long views towards the South Downs. When we slip away from your guests for twenty minutes there is somewhere genuinely worth walking to.

Introduction

Accommodation is at the Goodwood Hotel rather than the house itself, so there is a short transfer in the morning. It is not a problem, it just wants factoring into the timings. Tell me where you are getting ready and I will build the schedule around it.

The Setting

No posing, no forced smiles, no interruptions. In a house this size that discipline matters more, not less, because the temptation is to start directing people around beautiful rooms. I film what actually happens instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Because the Ballroom light changes a great deal through the day. What works beautifully at four o’clock is a different problem at midday. Knowing the time in advance means I arrive set up for the room you actually have rather than the one I hoped for.

Out in the downland and parkland, with long views towards the South Downs. It is worth protecting twenty minutes for it, because that is usually where the quietest and best footage of just the two of you comes from.

180 for the ceremony and up to 225 in the evening.

At the Goodwood Hotel, so allow for a short transfer in the morning. It is not far but it is a gap in the timeline and it is much better planned than discovered on the day.

Different rather than harder. Grand rooms need more care with light and more distance between me and you, so I work quietly at the edges and let the house do what it does. Nothing is attached to the building and nothing is moved.

Questions about packages, pricing and how long the films take to arrive are answered on my full FAQ page. Anything specific to Goodwood House that is not here, just ask me.
