Grittenham Barn takes one wedding a weekend, and of everything on this page that is the detail I would pay attention to. Nobody is clearing up behind you, nobody is setting up around you, and I am not working to somebody else’s schedule. Days here are unhurried in a way that shows up on the film.

It is a Grade II listed barn near Tillington in West Sussex and it has the honest, weathered look that newer barn conversions spend a great deal of money trying to imitate. Old timber takes light beautifully. I rarely need to do much to it.

120 for the ceremony and up to 200 in the evening. Large enough to feel like an occasion, small enough that you will actually speak to everybody who came.

No posing, no forced smiles, no interruptions. I film what happens and I keep out of the way while I do it. If your photographer sets something up I will work alongside them, but I am not going to stop your day for the sake of a shot.

Accommodation is close by rather than on site, so tell me where you are getting ready and I will plan the morning around the drive.

    Old timber takes light beautifully with very little help from me. Grade II listed buildings are often awkward to film in because the windows are small and in the wrong places. This one is not and I usually get through a day here with far less kit than the room would suggest.
