Best Surrey Wedding Venues

I have been filming weddings in Surrey since 2015 and these are the venues I keep going back to. Some of them are twenty minutes from my front door. What follows is what each one is actually like to spend a wedding day in, with the real guest numbers, rather than what the brochure says.

Botley’s Mansion, Chertsey

Up to 280 for the ceremony and up to 500 in the evening, which makes Botley’s Mansion the largest wedding I film anywhere in Surrey. There is a bridal suite and eleven further rooms on site, so the morning happens where the wedding happens.

Numbers that size change how I work rather than whether it works. I arrive earlier and I plan the speeches differently, because a room of five hundred needs more than one camera pointed at it.

Foxhills Country Club, Ottershaw

150 for an outdoor ceremony, 180 seated and 180 in the evening, spread across the Orangery, the Manor Lawns and the Clubhouse. The Orangery seats forty five, so a smaller day works here too, and the Clubhouse goes to exclusive use for up to 180.

Sixty six rooms and a bridal suite on site. Foxhills Country Club is one of the few venues near me where nobody has to drive anywhere on the day.

Horsley Towers, East Horsley

120 for the ceremony, 120 seated and 250 in the evening, in a nineteenth century mansion with eight acres around it. A bridal suite on site and gardens close enough that the couple portraits are twenty minutes rather than a hike.

Farnham Castle, Farnham

150 for the ceremony, 150 seated and 200 in the evening, with a bridal suite and thirty three further rooms. A castle that manages not to feel like a theme.

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Camberley

150 for the ceremony, 150 seated and up to 200 in the evening. The ceremony is in the 1813 chapel and there are three reception spaces to choose between: the lakeside marquee, the Old College Dining Room and Robertson House.

A military wedding runs to its own timings and its own rules. I have filmed enough of them to stay out of the way of both. There is more on how that day works on my Sandhurst page.

How I film a Surrey wedding

No posing, no forced smiles, no interruptions. I film what happens and I stay out of the way while I do it. If your photographer sets something up I will use it, but your day does not stop for me.
