Summary

Foxhills gives you three quite different places to get married and the choice genuinely changes the film. The Orangery takes 45, so it is close and warm and full of glass. The Manor Lawns take 150 outdoors. The Clubhouse holds up to 180 on exclusive use. Tell me which one you have booked and I will tell you what I would do differently.

The Orangery is my favourite of the three to film in, even though it is the smallest. All that glass makes the light soft and even, and with 45 people in a room you catch things that get lost in a crowd of two hundred. The reactions during the vows tend to be the footage couples end up watching most.

If you are going outdoors on the Manor Lawns, we should talk about time of day. Open lawns in the middle of a bright afternoon are the least forgiving thing I film in. Late afternoon is far kinder to everybody, and planning for it costs you nothing.

There are 66 rooms on site, so most of your party can stay put. That usually means the morning preparations happen in one building and nobody is driving anywhere before the ceremony.

Introduction

No posing, no forced smiles, no interruptions. I film what happens and I stay out of the way while I do it. If your photographer sets something up I will work alongside them rather than across them.

The Setting

Foxhills is in Ottershaw, roughly forty five minutes from me in Grayshott.

The Clubhouse – exclusive use for up to 180 guests

Filming notes for Foxhills

  1. Three ceremony spaces: The Orangery for 45, The Manor Lawns for 150 outdoors, The Clubhouse for up to 180 on exclusive use.
  2. The Orangery is the smallest and the best to film in. Glass, soft light, and close enough to catch every reaction.
  3. On the Manor Lawns, late afternoon is far kinder than the middle of the day.
  4. 66 rooms on site, so the morning usually stays in one place.
  5. Ottershaw, Surrey. About forty five minutes from me in Grayshott.

Other Venues in Surrey

There are many wedding venues in the Surrey area and some of my personal favourites are;

  2. Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst (Military weddings)
  3. Horsley Towers, East Horsley
  4. Wotton House, Dorking

Frequently Asked Questions

The Orangery, without much hesitation. It is the smallest at forty five, but it is glass, the light is soft and I am close enough to catch every reaction rather than only the big ones. Small rooms make intimate films.

Go later in the day if the venue will let you. Late afternoon is far kinder than the middle of the day. Overhead sun at one o’clock puts hard shadows exactly where you do not want them and there is very little I can do about it once the ceremony has started.

The Orangery takes 45, the Manor Lawns 150 outdoors and the Clubhouse up to 180 on exclusive use. Tell me which you are leaning towards and I will tell you specifically what it means for your film.

66 rooms on site, so the morning usually stays in one place. No travel gaps, no rushing and I can move between the two preparations without losing anything in between.

Ottershaw in Surrey, about forty five minutes from me in Grayshott. Close enough that I can arrive early without it costing you anything extra.
