THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY – SURREY WEDDING VENUE
IF YOU’RE PLANNING A WEDDING AT THE ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY, SANDHURST IN SURREY, YOU’LL LOVE IT!
I have been fortunate to capture several weddings at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, which is an active military training base for the British Army in Surrey with stunning grounds. It does not matter if I am doing photography or videography, I also manage to create unique and stunning memories for my couples. As a Hampshire based photographer and videographer on the Surrey border, this is a local venue for me which makes it easy to ensure that I always arrive on time.
The ceremony
The ceremony is normally a church service conducted by a military padre in the stunning chapel. During the ceremony there is the option to have a choir perform. The chapel was built in 1813 and retains many of the original features.
The chapel looks incredible when decorated with flowers, which I love.
The reception
The reception can be held in Robertson House, The Old College Dining Room or by the Lakeside at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. I have filmed and photographed weddings at all three of these and each one has a slightly different feel.
A marquee by the lakeside gives a very summer vibe and allows guests to take in the beautiful grounds before and after the wedding breakfast.
The Old College Dining Room and Robertson House are more formal dining areas but you have the opportunity to look at some of the history of the academy, memorabilia and old photographs
I love this venue because it has so many great opportunities for portraits. Weddings at The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst are amazing and the grounds are just incredible.
Why The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst is a great place to get married
The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst is really peaceful and secluded, and is one of the loveliest places to get married in Surrey. The venue oLers an amazing atmosphere for a wedding – and there are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photos and video clips.
The couple
In order to be married at RMAS you must meet the following requirements:
A serving officer
Child of a serving officer
Retired officer
Habitual attender at RMC Service
Any person or child of any person, military or civilian working within the bounds of RMAS
At all of the weddings I have captured here, the groom has worn full military dress and bride a more classic white dress and they always look incredible. The military uniform is often accompanied by highly polished swords which are used to form the guard of honour.
The couples have got in touch with me normally 12 months prior to the wedding and their enquiry always excites me as I love capturing weddings at this venue. My couples normally want a photographer or videographer who is more like a guest, relaxed and just captures the day naturally as it happens. The only real posing on the day is for the formal group shots and the rest of the time it is more documentary style.
