Wedding Videography - Frequently Asked Questions

I have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions about booking a wedding videographer and the services I provide. I hope you will find these answers useful but if there’s a question you have that isn’t answered here then do send me a message and I will reply as quickly as possible. I hope to hear from you soon.

WHERE ARE YOU GUYS BASED?

I am based on the Surrey / Hampshire border in a small village called Grayshott. I regularly film in Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, London and Kent

DO YOU HAVE INSURANCE?

Absolutely, I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance as you would expect from any professional wedding videographer. If your venue requires proof then I would be happy to email them a copy for their records.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR VIDEOGRAPHY STYLE?

My style is generally described as clean, modern and documentary. I want to capture real moments from the day and the genuine emotion attached to a wedding day. My editing style is soft in the way I use a lot of slow motion to really involve the viewer in the experience of the day.

DO YOU TRAVEL?

I am totally available to travel. I love to go to new places both within the UK and also destination weddings. Contact me and we'll get you more information and a price based on travel requirements.

HOW MANY VIDEOGRAPHERS WILL BE AT OUR WEDDING DAY?

There will always be at least one professional videographer at your wedding but there is an option to have either an assistant or a second videographer. These are listed in my standard packages but I am always willing to discuss how to best capture your day.

HOW MANY WEDDINGS HAVE YOU FILMED?

I've been creating films at Burton Media for 3 years and previously filmed for another wedding company. I filmed just over 50 weddings.

WHEN'S THE BEST TIME TO BOOK?

I usually get about 100+ requests per year and only book 10-15 so I can serve my clients and maintain a personal touch. I always recommend reaching out as soon as your thinking about booking to avoid being disappointed. Please remember, your booking is only confirmed once you have paid the deposit and we are unable to reserve dates.

WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING FEE AND WHEN IS THE BALANCE DUE?

I ask for £250 booking fee to secure the date due upon signing a contract. The rest is due one 14 days before the date of your wedding. I will usually contact you a month before your date anyway to catch up with your planning and remind you. I know you will be busy and my aim is to make things as easy as possible.

Introduced in 2020 is a 0% interest free plan. This means you can pay monthly payments to help spread the payments. You can find more information about this in the packages section.

WHAT'S YOUR LIMIT ON HOURS?

I don't have a limit on hours as such. I film until I’ve captured everything I need to tell your story. Generally, from when you're getting ready in the morning until about 30 minutes after your first dance. I am always willing to discuss longer coverage if there is going to be specific entertainment or something you would like capturing later on.

DO YOU RECORD THE VOWS?

Most of my packages include the recording of the ceremony and this will be delivered as a separate film. 

DO YOU RECORD THE SPEECHES?

Most of my packages include the recording of three speeches and these will be delivered as a separate film. 

HOW DO YOU ENSURE IT'S TOP NOTCH PROFESSIONAL AUDIO?

For the ceremony I use Lav mic's to capture the audio for both the Bride and Groom, as well the officiator. I take special care to make sure no wires are ever showing. As well, I use an extremely small form factor with my mic setup, so it's neither uncomfortable nor noticeable. If you wish to not use a Lav mic I have other options as well. I try to record the speeches by plugging directly into the DJ's or venues soundboard.

SO DO YOU PUT A LAV MIC ON BOTH THE GROOM AND THE BRIDE?

No, I’ve found it works much better to put a Lav mic on only the groom. This Lav mic is able to pick up the audio from both the bride and groom during the ceremony at a clear crisp quality.

WHO ARE THE VIDEOGRAPHERS THAT WILL BE AT MY WEDDING?

Myself and a second if booked will be there. Sometimes thats my son Sam and sometimes it's one of the few guys I work with on a regular basis. However I'm always personally invested into every film I make.

WILL YOU GET IN THE WAY? 

I do my best to blend in on your wedding day. I hope that you would not really notice me and that is how I capture natural moments from your day.

HOW DO YOU INTERACT WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER?

I love working with other photographers and as wedding photographer myself, understand how they work. I also do my best to work with them so everything goes smoothly during your wedding day:)

DO WE GET TO MEET YOU BEFORE THE WEDDING?

I am always willing to try to arrange to meet my brides and grooms beforehand so we can go over the details and just say hi:) 

HOW LONG AFTER THE WEDDING DO I GET MY FILMS?

This can vary, but normally my turn around time is a maximum of 90 days to deliver all of your films. I try and deliver a teaser within 24 hrs so you can share this with those that were not able to be present.

CAN I CHANGE MY PACKAGE ONCE BOOKED?

Of course, if at any time you would like additional features or coverage then I am happy to do this for you. You can also opt to downgrade your package if you change your mind. I want to ensure you receive the service from me that you want.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL OR WORSE?

I have reciprocal arrangements with other wedding videographers across the country.  In the event of illness (or other such emergency) then I would aim to substitute myself with someone of equal quality or better and a very similar style.

Where possible I will provide you with a few names and their work so you can choose the person you like the best.  But please bear in mind that in exceptional circumstances this may not be possible.  So for example if there was an emergency on the way to your wedding then my priority would be to assign a replacement immediately. 

Any difference in cost will be my problem.  Not yours.

To date I have never had to use my emergency protocols but they are in place, just in case!
