Mel and Oliver’s Wedding at Farnham Castle
I love returning to be a Farnham Castle Wedding Videographer so when Mel and Oliver first got in touch with me about their wedding, I was so thrilled – they were planning the most exciting castle wedding with an intimate ceremony at the venue and a lovely meal with friends and family. Mel and Oliver are the loveliest couple and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Bridal and groom prep
I started at The Gate House at Farnham Castle, where the bride and her friends were getting ready. It was so chilled out because all the girls were there. Mel wore a classic white dress which looked absolutely stunning.
Oliver and his groomsmen wore braces and a bow tie and they looked really incredible. The boys got ready together in the main main castle. They then met in the bar and you could feel the excitement growing.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place in Lantern Hall and was a traditional short ceremony. When Mel walked down the aisle you could see Oliver was overcome with emotions and may have even shed a small tear. They had a beautiful reading during the ceremony which was so moving.
After the ceremony they walked down the aisle together, and then we did a confetti tunnel outside on the lawn. After a few drinks we did some more formal style groups shots with the couples friends and family. We also had a chance to setup some drone shots which were choreographed by Alex, their photographer. These were really unique and below as a few screen grabs from the footage.
After the ceremony
The wedding reception took place in The Great Hall in the castle, which they’d decorated with the most beautiful flowers throughout the venue. They picked an amazing florist who did a fantastic job for them and made the footage look incredible.
It was a bright and sunny day, which was what the couple had hoped for. While the guests enjoyed drinks at the bar, Alex took some couple portrait photos. My favourite screen grabs from the portraits are below!
The evening
During the reception they had a lovely three course meal with friends and family, which went down a storm and was absolutely delicious. Afterwards, there were a few speeches and the party kicked off. They had a live band, which kept everyone entertained. We were even treated to some 80’s (1979) The Gap – “Oops Upside Your Head” dance moves!!!
Top tip for planning a wedding
Are you planning to have a photographer and videographer at your wedding to capture the day? Having a team that work together regularly really helps this go smoothly and gets you the best results. Alex and I have captured over thirty weddings together and know how each other work, help each other and produce similar styled finished products. At every wedding we receive similar comments such as;
“You guys have both been amazing”
“We love the way you work together”
“Thank you both for putting us at ease”
“We can tell you have shot a lot of weddings together as you both think alike”
“You complement each other”
“We are pleased we picked you both as a team”
“We can’t wait to see the end result as we know how hard you have worked”
