Why should I hire a drone operator and for what?

Yes, I hold the latest CAA A2 Subcategory qualification of the Open Category. This allows me to operate commercially my drones.

Yes, I have insurance for all of my drones and cameras and £5 million public liability insurance for flight operations in the UK which is a requirement of the CAA.

There are a huge range of applications where a drone can save time and money. I am able to fly anywhere in the UK, following a risk assessment and within the limitations and regulations set by the CAA.

For many tasks, a drone is the most cost effective, efficient and safe option. This could be for a survey which would require specialist equipment to be able to carry it out.

Using a drone is often the safest option for a great number of tasks. Wherever it is dangerous or difficult to send personnel, it is far better to send the unmanned aerial vehicle. Most notably, working at height, especially with equipment or tools, can be a risky undertaking and time consuming, so using a drone avoids this danger completely. The drone itself is extremely safe with multiple built in safety features.

There is a live down-link from the drone which is viewable by the pilot of the drone. This enables me to position the camera in the perfect position to capture the images, video or information you require.

I am currently operating under a standard CAA permission for aerial work which means I can fly up to  400 feet (120m) vertically and 500m from the pilot horizontally. For specific survey this can be increased following an application.

Flight times vary depending on the drone and weather but are typically around 20-30 minutes per battery. With 3 batteries this gives a total flying time of 1hr 30 minutes.

For safety reasons we do not fly in wind speeds exceeding of 20 mph. Anything above 10 mph may start to affect the smoothness of the shot which is particularly important if shooting video. Light snow maybe OK but unfortunately no drones are able to fly in rain.

Yes, the drone can be used inside provided there is enough room indoors. We are not subject to the rules and regulations placed upon us by the CAA but there are some issues regarding insurances.

This is not such a simple question unfortunately. The C2 qualification allows operators to fly an A2 drones 30 meters from uninvolved buildings or people and reduced to 5 metres in low speed mode. There are currently no certified A2 drones available as the legislation only came into effect on the 31/12/2020.

This limits all current drones to a distance of 50m for uninvolved buildings or people. However if I am on a shoot where everyone is under my direct control, I would brief everyone beforehand, then I am able fly closer. 

Of course. I offer all sorts of post production editing, of both images and video footage. This can be used as part of a combined ground and aerial film for example. 

Each project is different and presents its own unique set of requirements, so we assess every job on a case by case basis.
